Caroline Haslett Primary School: Specialist Teaching Extension:

This project comprises three specialist teaching classrooms with a covered external play area, storage, WC’s plant and staff car parking. The external timber column structure allows structural clarity between the three essential building elements; allowing bands of timber windows to mediate between rendered blockwork walls and the concrete tiled double monopitch roof.

The three classrooms are naturally ventilated by means of electrically operated opening windows at high and low levels. The building is finished in render, painted in a variety of colours representing the clarity of the program distribution which is apparent in plan. Rendered blockwork planters are incorporated to the North End suggesting the extension of the building beyond the overhanging roof.
